About Us

Together For The Harvest (TFH) was founded in 1998 when leaders from a group of churches were impressed with the importance of having strong uniting relationships. Together those churches explored issues of purpose and vision, and began to dream what would be possible when there was a unity in spirit with a strong focus on a common purpose: to see a harvest of people turning to the Lord Jesus the Mersey Region, and society changed by the adoption of biblical values in the spheres of influence in it. TFH adopted the strap line “united in spirit, intent on one purpose” from Philippeans 2v2.

Over the last decade TFH partner churches worked to offer training to leadership teams in local congregations principally around the rediscovery of purpose and the importance of unity. From its inception the need for prayer was recognised and several strands of prayer activities have been initiated and supported. This still continues.

On the foundations of prayer, purpose and unity TFH organised a number of region wide evangelistic initiatives, including: Just 10 with evangelist J John, held weekly for ten nights in the Anglican Cathedral - over two thousand people came each week, many of whom were visitors; and Merseyfest, a major coming together of over 200 churches, and local  community groups, with Merseyside police and other secular bodies. Two hundred social action projects were run in a week in summer 2005, culminating in a two day festival, free to enter, for the public. Official estimates said that 75,000 people came over the two days in Croxteth Park.

One of the foundations of TFH was the Merseyside Evangelical Alliance Trust, which was the local expression of the national Evangelical Alliance

TFH continues to be that local evangelical fellowship of the EA in the Mersey Region.

Three members of the TFH Steering Group

In 2008 TFH is working with other groups to help establish a network of networks. Across the Mersey Region are several strong local networks where churches are working together to impact their communities with the Good News of Jesus in word and deed. Leaders from several of the networks met together in 2007 to consider the value of regular meetings of key people from all the networks. In 2008 these meetings will begin. They will be places for sharing and supporting each other  in  local efforts, and learning what things have worked. Ideas for regional initiatives can be evaluated and vision to see the region reached strengthened.

TFH is led by a steering group of church leaders who give their time freely to this great vision. Their role is to keep the work focussed on the vision of Harvest and Transformation, and to pray for its implementation.

This is supported by a team of volunteers, headed by TFH Chairman John Manwell who help with the practical things of organising events, producing literature, mailings and so on.

This is the web site of Together For The Harvest, an association of churches from across the Mersey Region, working together to reach every man, woman and child with a credible presentation of the Good News about Jesus Christ, and working to see Christian values influencing our society.
